Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. Dissolve the baking soda in hot water and add this to the batter along with the salt.
  5. Stir in the flour and chocolate chips.
  6. Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before serving.
